1st September 2023
Praise the Lord...
For a recent trustees’ afternoon thinking about the ‘Household of God’, celebrating our adoption as sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father and that as a local church we are first and foremost brothers and sisters in Christ, which is a foretaste of eternity, whilst other relationships will cease. We discussed how that affects our gatherings and life together.
For summer visitors, and especially the opportunity to offer encouragement and refreshment to other gospel ministers on holiday.
Pray...
For our 2023 encouragement of one another to be praying for opportunities to ask 2 questions of others each week: Would you like to come over for some food? Would you like to come to church with me?
For Philip, our Rector, as he visits door-to-door, offering a link to the Jesus video, renewing contacts with many in town, putting the gospel back on the agenda with them, as well as getting to know new people who have moved into Fowey. Pray for good conversations, for the invitation to watch to be taken up and for the Holy Spirit to use the words of Luke’s gospel powerfully to bring people to clear repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus.
Give thanks...
For our 20th anniversary!
For numerical growth and much diversity.
Pray...
For us to be an ‘inter-ethnic’ church, where we integrate with one another rather than remain in our silos.
For increase in ethnic diversity amongst the leadership of the church.
For us to continue to be a loving church.
ACE Assistant Bishop Ian Ferguson runs a virtual congregation every Tuesday evening at 5:30pm UK time.
The ‘virtual congregation’ provides a simple 1662 BCP evening prayer service, rooted in the doctrine of authentic Christian orthodoxy as expressed in God’s breathed-out word in scripture and our Anglican BCP as used throughout the world.
